Christmas in Lucky Harbor is a funny and sweet anthology featuring Simply Irresistible and The Sweetest Thing by Jill Shalvis.The first story in the series is Simply Irresistible. After the death of their mother, Maddie and her two estranged sisters find themselves in Lucky Harbor, trying to figure out the next step in their lives and what to do with the inn that their mother left them. Maddie, aka the mouse, finds herself wanting to stay in Lucky Harbor and run the inn. Sure, there is a lot of work to be done with the old place but Maddie is up to the challenge and Jax is just the man to help her. Not only is Jax a contractor but he is the town mayor. I became completely caught up in the story. I love the town and the people. There is some laugh out loud moments. What I really came to appreciate is how “real” Maddie was. Her insecurities made her vulnerable but they made her human. Jax is just a great male character and he really was into Maddie.The second story is The Sweetest Thing which featured the oldest sister, Tara. I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like Tara’s story but I enjoyed it a lot more than expected. At a young age Tara came to Lucky Harbor to visit her mother. One wild and crazy summer she fell for Ford (Jax’s friend) and conceived a child. She eventually gave the child up for adoption and moved forward with her life. Now that she is back in Lucky Harbor with her sisters, it is hard to keep those old feelings for Ford at bay. Not to mention, she receives a small surprise when their daughter shows up. Fans of feel good stories will love this book. The characters developed nicely, the story flow and there were some funny moments. I can’t wait to read the third book.
